Inspiration

This picture was taken when I was living in Rouen in France. I remember I liked to go into the city and sit on a bench and watch people passing by. Sometimes I drew them on a piece of paper. This is when I wrote the song called “Busy People”.

My father bought me this boat, or rather to my son, to draw, some years ago. It’s a bit big and it didn’t really fit into my interior so I placed it in the window frame. One day, the sun bathed the window in this magical beautiful light that couldn’t go unnoticed. I grabbed my phone and took a picture. The warm, beautiful light doesn’t really show on the photo, but it was such a special moment. It was the spark of the song called Sailing.

I have collaborated many years with the double bass jazz player Alexander Grieg. He plays the bass on many of my songs.  He is also the studio producer of my album “Moontraveller”. Here we are, on the rooftop of his Studio Villa Grieg near Troldhaugen in Bergen.

I love creating music. I love being in nature and rest my eyes on something beautiful. I find inspiration in my surroundings, in people I meet, in nature and in the arts. I have also written songs about myself and my own feelings. Singing and playing with my guitar has given me great comfort many times. I do believe in the transformative and healing effects of music.

I am currently working on an EP project with songs from my old songbook.
